ADF Super

From 1st July 2016 ADF Super replaced the Military Superannuation and Benefits Scheme (MSBS) as the default superannuation fund for employees of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

Members of ADF Super are entitled to a superannuation contribution equal to 16.4% of their pre-tax salary.  This contribution can be paid into any superannuation fund, not just ADF Super.  Members of the ADF therefore have a choice over their superannuation fund and have the opportunity to select one which best suits their needs.

Current MSBS members are given the option to join ADF super (or an alternative superannuation fund) if they wish.  The two schemes operate in fundamentally different ways.  The decision to remain as a contributing member of the MSBS or to switch to an accumulation fund is therefore an individual one.  A Fiducian Financial Planner can provide an assessment of your personal needs and military career objectives to help you decide on the best option for you.
